Description: Up for sale is a working, cleaned, and upgraded Nintendo Virtual Boy system with Mario Tennis and V Tetris games. I've spent many hours working, cleaning, upgrading, and quality testing this Virtual Boy system that includes the ribbon replacement of both internal eyepieces using Cardosi Eyepatches. THIS IS A MUST for anyone looking to purchase a Virtual Boy as all units without this upgrade will eventually fail to work properly. Included in this system are: - Head unit console (Cleaned and upgraded) - *Eyeshade holder (OEM and cleaned)- *Cloth Eyeshade (Brand New aftermarket from Repair Box)- Virtual Boy Stand (Brand New aftermarket from Repair Box)- Controller and Power Tap (OEM and Cleaned - No need to worry about batteries for this system)- Plug-in Power Supply (OEM and working)- Controller Stand (Brand New to display with system) - Mario Tennis and V Tetris (Tested and Working) * The assembled aftermarket eyeshade holder and cloth eyeshade in the photos is for visual reference only and not included. You'll be receiving the OEM eyeshade holder with the Nintendo logo and the aftermarket cloth eyeshade still sealed and brand-new. And since he's a really good friend that means he's not included in the sale of this system! Sorry!!! Restoration Work and Upgrades 1. Virtual Boy console system upgrades include replacing the OEM glitchy and degrading ribbon cables that connects the LED/PCB eyepieces to the motherboard with a permanent cable ribbon fix using Cardosi Virtual Boy Eyepatches soldered directly to both left and right LED/PCB eyepieces.The original ribbon cables for the eyepiece by Nintendo were poorly made by today's standards and were glued instead of soldered onto the LED/PCB eyepieces. The OEM ribbon and attaching glue degradation is what has led to many Virtual Boys having eyepieces not working or degraded viewing with error lines during game play. This PCB ribbon cable upgrade for both eyepieces is a permanent solder fix that eliminates error lines and brings back the video to each lens where the OEM glue and OEM ribbon cables had previous lost signal giving no video or bad connection giving video corruption. 2. ALL CAPACITORS in the Virtual Boy head unit have been replaced with brand new capacitors from Console5 to ensure the computer electronics will keep running for another 30 years without worry of failing. 3. Head unit shell, controller shell, membranes, and buttons have all been hand washed with dish soap to remove 30 years of dust, dirt, grime, and acne oil. 4. Viewing lens have been polished to give clearer gameplay viewing. I have performed quality tests on this system with 13 different games which are: Red AlarmTeleroboxerV TetrisGalactic PinballVirtual GolfMario TennisVertical ForcePanic BomberJack Bros.WariolandVirtual League BaseballNester's FunkyBowling Mario Clash NOTE: The 13 games tested were for quality checks on this system only. You will only be receiving 2 games - Mario Tennis and V Tetris. ConditionThere is some fading on the front left and top left of head unit. And there are a couple of scratches/marks on the front of the controller. I tried cleaning and polishing them, but both wouldn't come out. When performing quality tests on this build, I detected faint lines that appeared on the title screen/beginning animation and during gameplay. This happened on 4 games - Mario Clash, Panic Bomber, Virtual Golf, and Nester's Funky Bowling. I've included photos of all 4 affected games that I mentioned having the faint lines. These lines are either very brief during animations or very faint during intros and gameplay if or when they appear. I give full transparency for new Virtual Boy owners and those unaware of potential issues when purchasing a Virtual Boy System. The Virtual Boy is 30 years old. Beyond the poor-quality control issue with the ribbon cable, there are 224 LEDs (you got that right) in EACH internal eyepiece PCB (Printed Circuit Board) to produce an image and one or two LEDs might go out over 30 years. This is something no ribbon cable/solder fix replacement can correct as this is component failure that cannot be fixed and doubt any other seller hear on eBay will tell you. I've seen others post their Virtual Boys that mention they've performed the ribbon cable/solder fix, replacement, and even claim to have picture perfect restorations. What you don't see are whether those fixes have any dead LEDs, or they say there are no dead pixels (Note: Virtual Boys have no pixels), or all working LEDs based off a single game like Mario Tennis where the majority of the gameplay screen is black and hides any dead LEDs or imperfections. Or worse, those who are selling their systems saying it works and that they've done the "permanent solder fix" when all they've done was flowed solder from the internal eyepiece PCB to the glued OEM ribbon cable. Let me re-iterate, THE OEM INTERNAL EYEPIECE CABLE IS A PIECE OF CRAP!!! (See last photo of internal OEM eyepiece cables removed from several Virtual Boys to show the different stages of self-destruction). 7-8 years ago, reusing these cables by flowing solder over them was the only option and was a crapshoot if it worked. Then a few years ago when vendors like Cardosi came up with a cable replacement that involved soldering onto the eyepiece directly with a new and much better quality ribbon cable giving much better and permanent results. I've personally had to fix a couple of these so called "solder fixes" using the OEM cables that originally didn't fix the issue. A Virtual Boy without a permanent solder ribbon cable replacement is a ticking time bomb and is bound to start malfunctioning at any time. I also wanted to say that this system is quality tested against 13 different games while other sellers choose a game to hide defects and present images from far away. I'm giving full disclosure AND PHOTOS FOR PROOF while other sellers give none which is misleading to buyers claiming to have full restoration while not showing their work or using just 1 game with lots of black to hide dead LEDs that will show up in other games. With that said, perfect PCB eyepieces with fully functional LEDs is getting harder and harder to find thus more expensive. So I've priced mine accordingly and included 2 games instead one as well as a controller stand to display your controller with your system and help prevent future marks on the controller by leaving it dangling and potentially getting more scratches.
