Description: Vintage Wool Stadium Blanket Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage H. L. Whiting College of the Pacific (COP) wool blanket. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This blanket is black wool with orange felt edging and a large, orange felt P on one side. It measures approximately 58 3/8 inches by 67 3/4 inches. Presumably, this was intended as a blanket to keep warm while at the stadium watching football games, but it is also a neat, decorative piece. Unpacked, it weighs 3 pounds 4.7 ounces. This would be a nice addition to a collection of vintage wool blankets or university memorabilia. Identification This blanket is vintage, but I do not know the exact age; the original owner attended College of the Pacific in Stockton (now University of the Pacific) during the 1940s. The "H. L. Whiting Knitting Co. Los Angeles Seattle" label is shown. The name of the original owner is embroidered near the Whiting label. The fabric content is not labeled, but the black fabric looks like wool. Condition The blanket looks good overall. It has not been cleaned, and it has some lint and minor pet hair scattered on its surfaces; it has minor fabric pilling. I found one small (less than 1/2 inch) thin area to the left of the P where the black foundation threads show; since the foundation threads and the fabric surface are both black, this does not show up readily for display purposes. There is a tiny hole within this thin area (less than 1/8 inch) that I found when I held the blanket up to a bright light. There are some dark stains on the orange felt border (examples shown). The blanket has been stored folded, so it has fold marks. There are no strong or foul odors. Please review the description and photos, and ask any necessary questions prior to bidding or buying.
