I wound this up and it started to play right away. The handle of the windup device is marked with a logo that I'm not familiar with - it sorta looks like a Genie lamp. The bottom is stamped Made in Japan. The outside is made of mostly wood and stones in an old cottage design with 2 slide out drawers on the bottom. When you open up the lid of the roof, it has the ballerina inside there BUT SHE IS BROKEN OFF so the music box doesn't stop laying when you close the lid. Speaking of the playing - I have no clue on what the song is, I personally think whatever the song is, it's playing on the slow side. The ballerina is included so if you are handy, you may be able to fix this. The side of the cottage is a little storage building and that lid opens up as well to show a small storage compartment in there as well.
