Description: RARE Limited Edition Vintage Wood Folk Art Basket Purse//Caro-Nan style Hand Painted Cottage Core Handbag//Country-style Wood Basket Purse These hand-painted basket bags were made in the 1960s and 70s and sold in dress shops in the South. This one was made especially for Goldsmith’s Department Store in Memphis, Tennessee, and the artist’s initials are written inside. Bag dates from the 1970's with a bohemian, hippie, folk art feel. It has a hinged lid and is hand-painted with whimsical mushrooms in red, yellow and green. There is a small rectangle mirror inside the lid. It is lined with a quilted cotton fabric in a red ditsy floral pattern and decorated with a red velvet ribbon. Small damaged area at the bottom side. Previous ink stain inside has been cleaned. 10"H x 9" L x 4 1/2" W. Please examine photos carefully as they form part of the description. The bag has been cleaned inside and out. In very good vintage condition, with expected signs of wear. Comes from a pet-friendly, smoke-free home. Questions welcome.
