Description: The Serial No. FR 421845 on this sewing machine indicates that it was made between 1884-1893 by the White Sewing Machine Company of Massachusetts. The sewing plate has a patent date of 1905, so it may have been altered or added later. This antique black machine is decorated with gold and silver filigree. This treadle style machine was originally mounted to a table and operated using a foot pedal linked by a belt to the wheel. This model comes with a black tin box marked "White" that is full of attachments (see photos for details.) There are rust spots and signs of age and use, but machine functions properly.
