The jug was made in Monmouth, Illinois, in the late 19th or early 20th century. This hard to find jug is made of brown and beige stoneware and has a rustic/primitive style. There are old visible fine hairline cracks as pictured. These are old and don’t distract either structurally or esthetically. There is also one chip on the lip as pictured. The jug is clearly marked as pictured and is an original piece. This is a big and hard to find jug. Before this one I have only seen these jugs measuring up to 2 gallons. It measures 15” tall and 10“ across at the base. It’s going to look great in your collection.
