Description: A Soviet period Russian clockwork tinplate folk dancer toy. Translated from the front of the box, her name is Alyonushksa. When wound, she moves forward then turns in circles and repeats. I only tested briefly because I didn’t want to overwind. She has her original key and what is left of the original box. The writing on the side of the box translates to “mechanical toy”. This toy was made in the 1970’s. In the 1980’s she was reproduced as a souvenir for the 1980 Olympics but her hat was changed to read “Moscow”. This older version was produced at either the Lenin Memorial Factory in Moscow or the Leningrad Metal Works in what is now St Petersburg. She is in excellent used condition with her original paint. There is no chipping or peeling. Measurements: Height 6” Width 3.25” Depth 2.25”
