Description: This is a smart pair of Vintage Sterling Silver Mounted Salt and Pepper Shakers. The bodies of the shakers are wooden with rubber stoppers in the bases for refilling. The tops have deep silver mounts with the piercings for the salt and pepper. The shakers were made in London by David Shaw Silverware and date to 1980. Established in 1973, David Shaw Silverware operated from premises in London's Clerkenwell Road, the City of London's traditional home for silversmiths. They produced a broad range of silverware, mostly for table use, until they ceased trading in 1992. Condition is good with just a couple of scratches on the silver shaker tops. The rubber stoppers are in good condition and form a secure seal. Please make sure to view all the photographs as these form part of the description. Each shaker is 6.7cm / 2.6ins high and 4.7cm / 1.8ins in diameter and the pair together weigh 163.1g / 5.7oz. The hallmarks, on the shaker tops, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter F for 1980 and the D S S in a shield makers' mark for David Shaw Silverware.
