Description: User grade Stanley no.80 in good condition. When I got this no.80 the jappaninng was all but gone, but luckily there was no severe rust issues in the casting. The body has been repainted with a black enamel engine paint recommended by published authors in restoring antique Stanley tools. The blade has a fair bit of life left in it though it is rather stubby compared to its original size. The thumbscrews were cleaned but there is significant pitting in places so I've just tried to leave as much patina/original nickel plating as possible while still making them feel good in the hand. The steel plate that holds the blade was cleaned of surface rust and has imperfections, pits, and spots of the original plating but again feels good in the hand. I have lapped the sole to get a fair amount of it coplanar, but from what I have seen these soles aren't meant to be extremely flat because you're using the tool to smooth a surface not plane it so precise flatness isn't required.
