Description: Description- 9/16/16/16/ book # 557 Vintage SPAULDING & FROST Fremont NH COOPERAGE wooden barrel- firkin bucket planter Jardinière fastened with nails, 2 brass handles, and standing on 3 paw feet. Incised on the underside “SPAULDING & FROST, Freemont NH. New HampshireIt is 12.5” T x 12” Across the rim x 10 ½” across the bottom. 15.5” across the handles and 10” deep inside, 1920-1949 This is an old barrel style bucket from Spaulding and Frost which is the oldest white pine Cooperage in the United States. First founded in 1874 and still making barrels in Fremont, New Hampshire. I cannot tell you if this their original or a repurposed item as a Planter - jardinière using brass and metal parts. Good antique condition one paw foot slightly bent and staves are not tight- all appropriate for its age and use. It has a slight slant, but is not wobbly.
