Modernist Mosaic Inlay of Malachite, Onyx, and Monel (Nickel & Copper Alloy) that portray both the front and side of a parrot face at the same time. Marked on the reverse "METALES PIEDRA" (meaning, stone metals). Measures 1/2" Signed on the reverse with the silversmith's hallmark. Era: 1948-1980 HistoryAntonio Castillo and his four brothers were all trained in Spratling's shop before they went out on their own to open Los Castillo, one of the most prominent of the Mexican jewelry producers. The Castillos were responsible for introducing works that married two or more metals. They also did enameling, feather work and Aztec mosaics.
