Description: Here we have a handsome old Sheffield plate communion chalice featuring a gilt interior and a crossed arrows makers mark indicating T and J Creswick of Porter St Sheffield. It will hail from the early part of the 1809s. The goblet is 20cm tall with a mouth of 10cm and a base of 9.5cm. The goblet has had a life and as such copper is bleeding through the silver plate and the are teeth marks around the rim. The gilt interior remains vibrant but again copper is bleeding through the raised fluted sections of gilt. The body is etched with the IHS initials symbolising Jesus Christ. In short, this will never be a communion chalice again but will make a good display piece enhanced by the fact it was manufactured by a noted silversmithing company.
