Description: Beautiful Vintage See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil Monkeys - Hand carved out of hardwood (unknown species). Nice wood grain throughout carvings. Green felt on the bottom of each monkey to protect table surface. Circa 1980s. Unknown region of manufacture. The age-old Japanese saying "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" became popular during the 17th century and is based on an old Buddhist parable meant to teach one awareness and not turning a blind eye to bad occurrences. It is a symbol of positive thinking and doing good things. The three monkeys are named Mizaru, Kikazaru and Iwazaru in Japanese. Excellent vintage condition. There are no cracks or chips.
