Description: A pair of beautiful vintage santons/dolls from Provence in France, handmade in terracotta by the Devouasseaux santon artisans. Signed G. Devouassoux on the base. These hand-sculptured figurines portray a Provencal woman or potager (soup maker) in traditional clothing with a brass spoon and cooking pot and a Provencal man or boulanger (baker) in traditional clothing and carrying a basket of baguettes. The heads, hands and feet have been handmade from terracotta clay from the region and their clothes are made from Provencal fabric.Their condition is excellent, in their original boxes, never displayed. 9.75" tall, including base
