Mr. Olivadoti's family was a musical one, and he began his studies at the age of ten, first on French horn, and then on saxophone and clarinet, and finally on oboe, which became his major instrument. He came to the United States in 1911, playing with the DeVito Band in Atlantic City for three years. He then lived in Hibbing, Minnesota, for several years. After several years as a theater musician and a member of Bachman's Million Dollar Band, he moved to Chicago, where he played professionally and taught at the VanderCook College of Music. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for 22 months. He then moved to California to perform with the Long Beach Municipal Band and the Philharmonic Orchestra. He retired in 1963. Olivadoti composed and arranged music most of his life. His many publications have been played extensively by school and professional bands. We are a small non-profit in Birmingham, Alabama. We sell donated sheet music and method books that we cannot use in our Scrollworks program at this time. All proceeds from our sales are used to provide instruction on orchestral instruments, piano and voice to children who otherwise would not have access, including children with disabilities.
