Description: Robert Mayokok (1903-1983) was a native Alaskan artist, writer and adventurer. He was a prolific and enterprising artist and reindeer trainer; he had a number of interesting occupations and was well-traveled. During the fifties and sixties, he was the resident artist at the Alaska Treasure Shop where his sketches were commercially produced on pottery and china. By his own account, he produced 2000 to 3000 drawings per year. Based on his original drawings from the 1940s-1950s, these souvenir art plates were sold at the Alaska Treasure Shop to locals and visitors alike. _______________________________ Please view the pictures/scans.
