Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very nice and somewhat rare Shure Brothers 578S model Omnidyne (omni-directional) dynamic microphone from the 1960's. This was a very modern design for Shure at the time and has a sleek, clean look to it. This was great for general broadcasting and is set at High impedance. It comes with the cable shown in which to operate as well as the vinyl mic pouch and new exterior foam pop filter. You can see the mics characteristics in pic # 2 from an old Shure catalog I have. It should be noted that about half of the 578 series mics I come across no longer work so do be make sure that any of these you buy is actually in good working order before you pull the trigger. The 578 microphone was short run production Shure microphone manufactured for about 10 to 15 years and had an incredibly small dynamic element for it's time with a clean dual impedance sound and one of Shure Brothers most expensive dynamic mics available. The mic was great for broadcasting purposes or recording purposes. This example is no different. Signal is 100% and very strong but again, high Z so there is virtually no bass in the tone. As you can see in the pictures provided...this 578S is in very nice condition having almost no wear at all. A really gorgeous piece. The Shure label looks really nice as does the on / off switch label. The front screen is free of any tarnish or dents. I had to replace the inner pop filter as they are always gone after so many years. This really helps with the sound characteristics too. Physically it's an easy 9 on a scale of 1 - 10. The ON / OFF switch works perfectly as well as the joint mechanism giving the mic a wide degree of tilt up and down. The mic itself is 11 inches long. A nice 15 foot cable is provided that is soft, pliable and free of damage. It has the standard male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most vintage and modern audio equipment. The newer vinyl Shure mic pouch is included. Perfect condition and a great place to store the mic when not in use or while transporting. Will keep your mic free of physical damage. The new foam pop filter fits the mic like a glove and really help with sound characteristics as the front screen is hard to remove and the original inner foam pop filter usually falls apart to the point of no longer existing. The mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand though a stand is provided. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE..USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY...
