Description: For sale is a vintage reproduction of a portrait depicting Zhong Kui (鍾馗), the demon queller, accompanied by five bats. Zhong Kui is traditionally revered as a conqueror of ghosts and malevolent spirits. The five bats on the left symbolize the five blessings of longevity: long life, good health, abundant wealth, virtue, and a peaceful death. The calligraphy on the right reads, "Blessings come from heaven."This painting was originally crafted by the esteemed master Qian Hui’an (錢慧安) during the late Qing dynasty. This painting should be appreciated and viewed from three different angles—front, right, and left. From these perspectives, the vivid expression of Zhong Kui's eyes and posture (including the tip of the shoe) come to life. The original artwork was once owned by my late father, who had it reproduced approximately 40 years ago. Recently, I discovered the last unsold batch and have decided to make them available for purchase. The lithograph print of the painting is framed using the traditional Chinese method for mounting hanging scrolls. The print measures 29-1/2 inches (width) by 49 inches (length), and 34-1/4 inches (width) by 73-1/2 inches (length) with the hanging scroll frame. It comes with an original description sheet in Chinese, Japanese, and English languages. It was widely sought after as a gift for corporate clients. This print has never been hung and has been stored in the original packaging, which is slightly torn due to its age. It comes from a non-smoking household. This item will be carefully packaged in a long rectangular box. Shipping costs will be based on the buyer's location. US buyers only, please.
