Description: Here for sale a 14x5.5 Super Ace from the late 50s in original 1st generation White Pearl, still in relatively pale condition. Many of these have become severely "butterscotched" over the years. I have had many a Super Ace, they are great snares and a Brit design icon. This one is in good original condition bar heads and wires. It's unusual in that it has a beech shell and rerings, they are usually birch but Premier seems to have produced a run of beech shells during the mid 50s period. I've had quite a few snares like this and a number of toms. The wires were subject to a Richard Newby fix a number of years ago whereby the clam pins were replaced and Puresound 20 strand wires installed. These sound excellent, thoroughly recommended. It's a very comfortable drum to play, has a used Everplay batter head on it and an Aquarian snare side. It has a couple of cracks to the top of the clams due to historical over-tensioning, these haven't moved in the time i've had it. It doesn't need to be wound up that much.
