Description: Lovely Maderia Embroidered Oval Placemat Set. Settings for 8. Elegant Madeira embroidery of scrolls around the outer edge of the placemats and one corner of the napkins. Finished with a Caseado Bastido stitch (the finest made by Madeira embroiderers) trim. Ecru embroidery on fine white linen. This set was purchased many years ago at Shaxted, the fine linen store of Chicago Michigan Avenue and Beverly Hills. New Old Stock, unused, the set is in very, very good condition. No holes or wear. There are age related stains from sitting in a drawer unused for decades. See example in last photo. Those will easily come out with first washing.
