Description: Tremendous vintage Madeira-embroidered Sea Life set. 8 placemats, 8 napkins Exceptional Madeira embroidery of a wide variety of sea life. The placemats center is white linen. The outer area is organdy filled with dimensional shadow stitch embroidery of fish, sea horses, shells, coral, starfish, vegetation, etc.. Each individual embroidered element is more spectacular than the next. The matching napkins are white linen with one organdy corner embroidered with a fish and vegetation. All pieces have scalloped edges with light ecru embroidery. Please view all photos as I have closeups of each embroidered section. The set is in very, very good condition. No holes, stains or wear. Some very slight shade differences in the white linen. Not noticeable. A couple of the napkins show a slight color difference where originally folded. See last photo. All can be overlooked with a set this outstanding. Hand-laundered and pressed. Placemats measure 18 1/2" wide X 13" high.Napkins measure 15 1/2" X 16" square. Please view all photos.
