Description: Item Description: PEANUTS METAL LUNCHBOX AND METAL/GLASS THERMOS from King Seeley Thermos 1966. This rare R-5 lunchkit is the first of five metal kits made by KST based on the comic strip and TV specials from Schultz’s Peanuts characters. This one is the orange-rimmed box with our intrepid WWI flying ace Snoopy in a dogfight with his nemesis the Red Baron – and Linus performing a concert while the rest of the wonderful Peanuts characters listen with smiles. The rim panels are filled with more wonderful comic cartoons from the Schultz’s pen. Everyone had a favorite Peanuts character, and KST freelance artist Nick LoBianco (of Get Smart and Yellow Submarine fame) had them all doing what you would expect on the box! Charles Schultz was so impressed with Nick’s work on this box – he recruited him to be the licensed Peanuts artist. Condition: Lunchbox and Thermos are complete and correct - complete with original wire thermos holder. Box lithos on main front and rear panels are clean and glossy throughout with a few light blemishes. Rim panels are clean and glossy throughout. Very light rim wear on front - just a tad bit heavier on back - with no corner dents or dimples. Inside is clean overall with a few small blemishes - with no previous owner markings. Box in overall Excellent Plus C-8.5 condition. Thermos decals are very clean with no dents or dimples or rattles when shaken - and a very nice shiny bottom - in overall Near Mint C-9 condition.
