Description: The P-51 Mustang is considered the best fighter by many, of World War II, including my Uncle who flew them. Its combination of speed, range, maneuverability, and firepower gave it great versatility. Its use in all major theaters of the war included long-range high-altitude escort, strafing, and photo reconnaissance. Originally developed by North American for the British, the Mustang was later ordered in large quantities by the U.S. Army Air Forces. I got this for a get well present in 1989 when I dislocated my shoulder. LOL. Yup, you see why it never got built. This Model is officially licensed with the Smithsonian Museum and has authentic, historically accurate markings. Box wrap is clear and has tear on left lower edge and corner, see pics. Colors, graphics and text are bright with minor fading from age, see pics. No stains or mold, see pics. As a Air Force brat I loved building USAF Models, funny I later served in the USAF but had no desire to fly. Box is approx 14 1/2" X 9" X 2 1/4".
