Description: Vintage Original Thewalt Lidded Beer Stein Western Germany, design 1256. Handpainted and hand fired. Decorated with a drinking scene and flowers, especially roses. It is stamped on bottom Original Thewalt and Western Germany. The German lettering is "Pflucke die Rose"on one side and "ch'sie verbluht" on the other, which I think translates to "Pluck the Rose, it's fading". Under the handle, it says 1256. Pewter lid. 8.5" tall. Base diameter is 4.25" Excellent Condition: Never used. No chips or marks that we could see. The lid is pewter with pineapple detail at top. The inside is in perfect shape and with no cracks in the protective coating.
