Description: CUSTOM!! STRONG ORIGINAL STYLE HOOKS, CONDITIONED SELECT LEATHER!! Study heavy 12 oz. selected hide material, strong brass hooks. NO ONE ELSE SELLS THESE, AND I decided to prepare a few more effective 9-21-2024!! Fatigued/conditioned, and FITTED WITH THE CORRECT CONTINUOUSLY CURVED G.I. STYLE HOOKS, NOT THE STRAIGHT CIVILIAN ONES SO COMMON NOW. See the images and text for details and explanatory graphics, etc., etc. The first one sold very quickly, and I am preparing another in the same exact way. This is appropriate all the way from 1907 to late into the 1940's. Marines used these in Korea!!! Slings on rifles were virtually ALWAYS older than the rifles to which they were fitted. FOR THOSE WHO WONDER, I ADDED AN PHOTO OF AN ORIGINAL SLING IN HERE, AND SO NOTED. NO, IT IS NOT FOR SALE IN THIS AUCTION. SELLING HERE IS A NEW ONE, LIKEWISE NEATSFOOTED. Made to look vintage, but new. G.I. hooks are vastly more secure and far more authentic. This sling is softened considerably so the more precise fitting and stable positioning of the hooks is easier. HOWEVER, it is still far more difficult than the "straight" style. They're also far more authentic. This one is totally unmarked, oil conditioned. It should last several lifetimes. This looks real, and is very much in the original style. Indeed, the ones on hand are UNMARKED, so they're not really "repros" or "fakes". They're just current M1907 slings, and after all the effort, they could likely be called "American made". These are NOT the "flat" or "straight" civilian, late style hooks! These are accurate copies of the old originals. Rivet "burs" are lightly crosshatched and seem more stable than originals. Made from drum-dyed, premium, 12-ounce selected leather, treated with oil conditioners and "tickled" to look used. As evinced by the specimen undisturbed M1, slings of this age were still being used throughout World War II. Unlike my usual conditioned/fatigued straps, this one is ready to go!!! Others sell this general design with authentic-styled hooks for twice my price and OVER. Doughboy and rifles are NOT included, they are there to illustrate, as is the threading guide. You'll also note: the "blacking" on the hooks of most vintage units was already worn/rubbed off while still in military custody.
