Description: A unique brooch or pendant that is a representation of Pre-Columbian art that was available for purchase during an exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It's on a 27" beaded necklace and measures approximately 2 1/2" long including the bail. The back reads MMA CMA and there are no other marks. The beaded necklace was not original to this piece and would need to be cut off for it to be worn as a pendant. The brooch is beautiful and in excellent condition. Ancient cultures located south of the present-day United States border are referred to as Pre-Columbian cultures. These people lived in the time before the arrival of Columbus. The three most notable Pre-Columbian civilizations were those of the Aztec, Maya and Inca.
