Vintage MCM 50s C. Miller Skyscraper Ceramic Lamps Mid Century Modern Deco Style

Description: ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a wonderful set of vintage "Skyscraper" lamps that were manufactured by C. Miller. The lamps bases are constructed of ceramic, and they take on a very deco / cubist feel. They are beige in color, and have gold accents throughout (see photos). The shades are a cardboard material, and they have a subtle textured cloth overlay with a thin gold banding around the top and bottom circumference. Each lamp has a standard on/off switch that is located at the socket. Both lamps are signed and dated (C. Miller, 1957) on the reverse side of the base close to where the electrical cords emerge. These don't come around too often anymore, and there's a PAIR at that. They'll look fantastic in any modern interior setting. MEASUREMENTS: The lamps each stand approx. 25.5" tall (measured from the bottom of the lamp base to the top of the shade). The distance from the bottom of the base to the light socket is approx. 16.5" high. The ceramic portion of the base alone measures approx. 13.25" tall x 8" wide x 5.5" deep. The round ceramic base at the bottom of the lamp is approx. 5.5" in diameter. The shades each measure approx. 10" tall x 9" in diameter (top) x 10" in diameter (bottom). CONDITION: The lamps are both in good condition for their age. They do have some minor cosmetic flaws which we'll mention here. First off, one lamp has some wear to the gold accent coloration on the base (see photos). This is very typical for these lamps. In can most likely be touched up if your a perfectionist, or just remain left alone. On the same lamp, there is a very small edge flake to the finish towards the top of the lamp base (see photo). It's barely noticeable, but it is there and we are mentioning it for accuracy. The other lamp base appears fine. Aside from that, the bases are free from chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. The shades are in fine shape - one is better than the other. There is some creasing on the back side of one shade (see photo) - being that it is on the back, it isn't seen unless you are looking for it. There is a small discoloration mark on one shade towards the bottom edge. Lastly, one of the lamps has a small piece of gray tape over the wiring. While both lamps work, we'd recommend having this one rewired, just to be safe. As with all vintage lighting, we always highly recommend having a licensed professional inspect the wiring prior to long-term use.
