Description: VINTAGE MATCHBOX MODELS OF YESTERYEAR DIECAST MODEL Y-13 1911 DAIMLER IN BOX. Matchbox is a popular toy brand which was introduced by Lesney Products in 1953, and is now owned by Mattel, Inc, which purchased the brand in 1997. The brand was given its name because the original die-cast Matchbox toys were sold in boxes similar to those in which matches were sold. The Model of Yesteryear range was introduced in 1956 with the release of the Y-1 Allchin Traction Engine. Like all of the vehicles modeled by Lesney so far, the Yesteryears were not made to a particular scale but were made to fit a standard size box. The Y13-2 1911 Daimler type A12 joined the range in 1966 when it replaced the American General locomotive. It is yellow with red seats, a black baseplate, brass plated grille, windscreen frame, handbrake and wire wheels, black plastic tires. CONDITION: This toy was one of my childhood toys and it is in excellent condition. I never played with it. I kept in its original packaging. The box, however, shows some wear from storage.
