DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.Logo Athletic, originally known as Logo7 was founded in 1971. The company’s product line included everything from t-shirts and hats to jackets and jerseys, and they held licenses with many major sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. Today the most popular items still left from Logo Athletic are their hats. Especially the Shark tooth/Double Shark tooth, Spike and Splash collections. Between the late 80’s and the early 90’s the sportswear frenzy was at its peak, with brands like Champion, Starter and New Era all competing for a seat at the table. Logo Athletic was launched as a companion brand originally to help complement the Logo7 apparel line at the time. eventually the downfall of Logo Athletic was caused by the original owners of Logo7 buying it back in 1998. This was very short lived as they eventually went bankrupt just two years later in 2000. HERE IS ANOTHER HIT I FOUNDLogo-7 Inc. was founded in 1971 by Thomas Shine to manufacture sports apparel at its industrial complex in Indianapolis’ Eastside.Shine had the idea to start the company when he was an assistant to Indiana Hoosiers head coach John Pont. During a coaching clinic, three Green Bay Packers players attended wearing shirts with team insignia on them. Shine realised there was a mail-order market for shirts with college logos.By 1976, Logo-7 had acquired a license agreement with the NFL to sell clothing with the insignias of its 28 teams, however its biggest business came from concessions at the games and from department and sporting goods stores. In 1980, Logo-7 became the only company licensed to print and sell knit shirts and warm-up suits with the official summer and winter Olympic Games insignias. In 1984, the company was sold to shopping mall pioneers Herb and Mel Simon, who had also purchased the Indiana Pacers. In 1992 the Simon brothers sold Logo-7 to Tultex Corp. The brand then changed its name to Logo Athletic in 1997.In 1998, a local group headed by Shine, the Simon brothers and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway brought the company back. But just two years later, Logo Athletic declared bankruptcy during the free fall in the sporting apparel industry at the time.In 2001, Reebok brought the operation for a fire-sale price of $13.8 million - $83 million less than what it was sold for three years earlier. The Eastside facility was used to produce much of its NFL related merchandise.
