Vintage linocut print, D is for Dragon, c1950, indistinctly signed, framed

Description: Size: Frame 30 x38 cm, print inside mount window 18.5 x 23.5 cm. Condition: Print in good condition, in standard new frame and mount. This is a very imaginative and well composed linocut print in five colours on a thin Japon paper. It is one of a series we acquired of animal alphabet pictures which were produced by a number of different artists, perhaps as part of a college project. Although this print is signed in pencil, we have not identified the artist. However other prints in the series are by identifiable artists and would date the print to the 1950s. The artist is clearly inspired in his choice of theme by Lewis Carroll's famous poem Jabberwocky, from Alice in Wonderland.
