Description: Vintage Lapid Pottery Israel Mid Century Modern Lava Glaze Volcanic Glass Vase Measures 5 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches across the foot. Condition: Pre-owned. Beautiful vintage Lapid Pottery lava glaze mid century vase. Colors are a deep navy blue so dark it's almost black decoration and an off-white tan base. Inside is a flat blue smooth matte glaze. Attractive abstract modernist pattern done in bold strokes. No chips or cracks.Bottom is a bisque clay. The vase is signed.The shape is squat at the bottom that narrows slightly into a thick-rimmed lip. The Lapid Ceramics factory in Israel closed for good in 1990 after almost 50 years in business. Many of the elements of Lapid's tableware and decorative pieces were influenced by Nordic / Danish design. All the designs were painted by hand.
