Description: This roll of kimono wool is a lovely deep navy blue with tossed flowers in red, yellow, white, and lighter blue, with white geometric accents in an ikat weave. Wight is relatively light, and faintly semi-sheer against the light.Ikat fabric is usually made from threads that have been resist dyed in the desired pattern in advance, and then they are woven together. I was told by a Japanese master weaver that 'they' (meaning his workshop? all Japanese ikat?) make ikat differently - the fabric is woven, printed/dyed, taken apart, and then rewoven, resulting in a design with the characteristic 'fuzzy' edges rather than sharp lines. Lovely, soft, vintage wool, possibly from the 1980s, in excellent condition – from a new bolt (what’s called “deadstock” – a bolt that’s never been touched so is a ‘new’ bolt, even though it’s vintage). 14.25” wide, price is per yard. --- Colors may vary by monitor, we cannot guarantee color.
