Description: John R. Craighead western wear costume clothing for children began in the 1950's. This tan weighted cowhide child's fringed skirt was produced during that time period. The skirt measures 15" long and flares out to a 22 1/2" at its widest. The waist measures 13" uncinched by the red suede 1/2" drawstring. There are slits on the upper sides for ease of fitting. It has topstitched side seams. The fringe is very durable! The decorative diamond shapes are dyed in red, blue, and brown. The wooden beads are green, red, blue, brown, and orange. They are attached by silver metal rivets. I believe that this skirt has never been worn and in great condition. This wonderful piece of American history would make a nice gift for a collector or would make a young girl very happy to play dress-up in!
