Vintage Howard Johnson Motor Lodges Glass Ashtray ~ 4.5" Diameter Click images to enlarge Description This ashtray was acquired at an estate auction in Western Illinois. It is appealing, desirable, & collectible. The chain began as a restaurant founded by Howard Deering Johnson in 1925. In the 1950s, the company expanded operations by opening hotels, then known as Howard Johnson's Motor Lodges, which were often located next to the restaurants. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, it was the largest restaurant chain in the U.S., with more than 1,000 combined company-owned and franchised outlets. We present this piece exactly as it was when acquired. No attempts to clean this item have been made by us. The photos are an accurate depiction of condition. There are no chips or cracks. This ashtray measures approximately 4.5" across. This will make a great addition to any home or collection. The photos are an important part of the description.
