Description: Here we have a Vintage 1950’s Horner 457. This archtop acoustic guitar is one of the many variations of the Hofner Model 457 from Germany with a classic sunburst finish. This archtop has a maple top, sides, and back complete with a Venetian cutaway, rosewood fingerboard, zero fret, and white block inlays to match the headstock to give it a "zebra" look. This guitar plays very well considering its age and repairs that have been done to it and looks like the beautiful jazz player it is. This guitar matches the similar attributes of many of the Hofner 457s that came out between 1955-and 1960 and still has the "Hofner" branding right below the rosewood bridge. We got this back from our luthier with a pro set up and some necessary finishing to get this guitar looking great and ready to play. Please see condition for important information. DESCRIPTION: • Serial number: Unknown • Made in Germany- 1950s? • Classic Sunburst finish • Original tuners • 22 fret bound rosewood fingerboard • Comes with original case (battered and in bad shape but OK for shipping) ALL SALES ARE FINAL - NO RETURNS ALL ITEMS ARE SOLD IN AS-IS CONDITION All of our instruments sold are in complete, working condition. This instrument was professionally inspected, repaired if necessary & given a pro set-up by one of our favorite luthiers/guitarist/composer/teacher & fantastic all around human being as well as the co-founder of April Mae & The Junebugs, Dave "Catfish" Fecca of Dave Fecca Guitar Repair located in Moorestown, NJ...so this axe is ready to rip! CONDITION: This guitar is fully playable. Our luthier gave this a full pro set-up, and buffed and oiled any imperfections in the body and fingerboard. All hardware was inspected, oiled, and tightened as needed. The action and intonation were set to play. On the back of the neck, a previous owner put a rod inside to brace it and filled it with some sort of epoxy to stabilize the neck. While this is not how our luthier would normally do things, he checked to make sure that it was stable and that the epoxy was smoothed out to allow for comfortable playing. We thought it would be best to leave it as it is and just prepare the guitar for playability for its next owner. Cosmetically, there are a few dings and blemishes on the sides of the guitar and there is a ding in the top of the headstock. None of these affect playability, and neither does any of the natural checking and reliccing of this vintage beauty. Please see the attached photos as an extension of our written description and reach out to us with any questions!
