Description: Purchased in Llasa, Tibet over 20 years ago, this hand-carved wooden printing block measures approximately 13-1/4” x 2-1/2” x7/8”. There are carvings on both sides (to my eye the two sides look like different styles or alphabets—like Japanese Katakana vs Kanji). I used to know what the carvings said, but have now forgotten, though I believe they’re sutra/scripture/prayer (could be wrong!). In terrific condition. I’m pretty sure the writing is backwards as the words are meant to be printed… I can’t honestly say for certain how old it is. (It doesn’t seem like an antique but could be.) It’s been on an altar beside other items from Llasa to remind me of Tibet. The last photo is my tea-drinking companion—an incense seller who accompanied me to the little shop where I bought this. Selling this and nearly everything due to financial necessity after 40 years of brain illnesses, brain surgery, etc. (now well, but $0 savings). Many thanks for your support! From a smoke free home with one kitty. Feel free to ask any questions. I pack items with care and normally ship same or next day. Thanks so much for checking out my item(s)!
