Certain ingredients and compounds will break down and "turn" faster than others. For instance, a perfume using a natural ingredient to make the smell orange or bergamot for the opening will fade quicker that one that uses a synthetic ingredient. Natural ingredients were used much more back in the day. The main point is the older the perfume, the less it may smell like what you may remember. This is NOT a defect of the item we are selling. There is NO, I repeat NO possible way for a bottle that has been stored years and years to smell exactly the same as it did years ago. Due to ingredients. Nature. Physics. Organic things and life. The ONLY way for it to smell exactly the same is to go back in time. Please remember that perfumes ALSO, OFTEN; and often more than ONCE, go through reformulations or changing of ingredients. This can be due to rising perfume ingredient costs, regulations (such as IFRA) on allergens or chemical toxicities, company buyouts, corporate greed, and may not smell the same as what you remember. These reformulations are not always disclosed to the public so it is not a record of fact if you will or easy to find info on. That being said many collectors in forums, online groups talk about batch variation and reformulations if you search the perfume name with either of those after it.
