Description: Vintage Gold Tone and Faux Pearl 1950's Sputnik Space Charm Bracelet with Sputnik Satellite, Rocket, Articulated Spaceman, Telescope, Shooting Star?, Space Station?/ Planet? measuring approximately 7 1/2 inches in length and weighing approximately 20.83 grams. This is a great bracelet for the space race history lover, lover of satellite history. The first artificial satellite to orbit Earth, launched by the Soviet Union on October 4, 1957. The satellite was a metal sphere the size of a basketball that orbited Earth at 18,000 miles per hour. The launch of Sputnik 1 shocked the United States, leading to increased Cold War tensions, the Space Race, and the creation of NASA. My father and my husbands father brought back many lovely pieces of jewelry, porcelain, clothing, perfumes, and household items to their new and future brides upon their return from Europe after WWII. Many of the items have gone to family, but there are still many items that need a home, and they are listed here. There are also other items, long held family treasures that also need to find new homes, as we have no room in ours for them. Many of them have been passed on from generation to generation over 100's of years. We hope they find a home with you.
