Description: ESTATE ITEMFrom the mid 1960s from Horikawa...United States Gemini Space Capsule This listing is for a very collectable vintage friction drive Space tin toy, made in Japan by Horikawa, [Trade Mark SH]. It is thus dated Circa 1965/70. It follows the success of the Space Capsule Gemini launched into orbit in 1965. There is no damage and the lithographed finish is excellent on the tin throughout with the exception of the one area where some minor rusting exists; there are no cracks or damage to the 'see through' perspex which allow the pilots to be seen in position. The space craft moves forward on three wheels, the rear two providing friction power, the small front wheel does need to be replaced due to play wear from the 1960s [ It does not travel far !]. The vulnerable wire double aerials are long gone, there is no lithograph damage just some binding near the rust as pictured. The total length of the capsule is 6 ½ inches/158mm, and the front nose diameter is 1 ½ inches/40 mm, capsule stands 3 ½ inches/90 mm at the tallest point, all approximately.
