Description: Vintage Folk Art 16" Metal, Wood & Clay Amish Horse & Buggy Carriage w/ Rider Wonderful, creative, detailed handmade Amish horse & buggy figure. Piece is 16" long x 8" high x 6" wide & constructed using several different materials. The wheels & carriage frame are metal, the horse has a wood structure that is covered by a clay or plaster like material. The horses tail appears to be genuine horse hair. The driver feels to be the same material as the horse. Reins & parts of the harness are black wire. The carriage wheels are stationary & do not spin. This is not a toy, it was built to be a display. The artisan was a resident in a senior living facility where my mom lives. He donated the item to a fund raiser & my mother purchased it. Sadly, he passed away before we could get it signed. We were told it was made in the 1980s & in a showcase since then. Piece is in very good condition. I did not find any damage or what I would call wear. Being handmade it has signs of being such, but that just adds to the charm.
