Description: Vintage Fissler ASTA Enamel cookware set Floral Amsterdam Pattern Germany. Set includes one 7" pot with lid and one 8.5" pot with lid. Each have a unique shape and are perfect for a pot of chili or winter soup. There is a slit in each lid to provide for steam to vent. The pots are heavy duty but are lighter than cast iron. The 7" weighs just under 4 lbs while the 8.5" pot is just under 5 lbs. Asta enameled cookware was made by the Fissler Company of Germany, who manufactured Asta from 1851 until the 1980's. Asta's pots and pans are comprised of steel bodies covered with two coats of porcelain enamel which were then fired. The final step involved firing on a third layer of porcelain enamel which was applied to cover surface ornamentation. As a result of this intensive production process, Asta cookware is quite durable as well as visually appealing. These high quality Asta luxury pots and pans were very expensive when initially offered in retail locations and remain highly sought after today.
