Description: Lovely Fenton Cranberry Opalescent Coin Dot Vase in Small size; This listing is for the VASE only. Any other items pictures are for scale and color, to help viewers percieve the beauty and depth of this very special art glass The Fenton Glass Company was established in Martins Ferry, Ohio circa 1905 They began producing Cranberry Glass in 1939. Their early peices (prior to 1970) were unmarked, and are identified by their forms, their colors, and the excellence of the hand-blown glass Craftsmanship and Artistry. This is an early, unmarked example (1939 earliest, 1969 latest) as Pieces began to be indent marked with a logo in 1970 This Ruffled, Crimped-edge Cranberry Glass Coin dot vase is a fantastic snapshot of the level of technical skill and artistic control practiced by the Glassblowers at Fenton The form is hand blown, the coin dots are made and captured in a hot layer of opalescent glass cased over the clear cranberry glass base material. Top edges were worked while the glass was hot to get the ruffles. You can see the layer of clear cranberry glass sandwiched beneath the sheath of opalescent glass There are 3 teirs of coin dots. They are slightly elongated into ovals, as this particular hand-made vase was puffed extra-round and full of air while it was red-hot and stretchy. All Fenton Cranberry Coin dot vases were individually made by hand; they each have a personality of their own 9 small cranberry ovals closest to the foot, each dot-oval about 3/8" wide9 medium cranberry oval coin dots in the middle, each about 1/2" wide9 Large cranberry oval-coin dots at the top, nearest the ruffle, each about 5/8" wide 12 ruffled in-and-out petals at the top of the vase. 6 petals push in, showing more of the opalescent side of the glass, and 6 petals bend outwards and away, revealing the cranberry color of the inside of the vase The Cranberry color has a watermelon-cherry juiciness to it, it is candy bright and so happy looking There is NO DAMAGE of any kind, No scrapes, no Scratches, no cracks, no Water marks There is some old sticker residue on the bottom, I left it in case it is associated with an original (now missing) sticker, in case that shape would mean something to someone. It may just be old sticky-tape residue. It will clean off easily if you wish FACTORY-PRODUCTION FLAWS: There is a tiny "pimple" of extra-glass, the size of a pin head, fused to one of the one of the cranberry petals. It is tiny, and in an unobtrusive, unseen spot, because of all the folding and crimping and ruffling. You have to feel for it. I found it on high-alert-looking-for-damage-patrol, but it is a factory flaw, not a chip There is a tiny mini-freckle-speck of black ash molded in to the base-foot of the vase, and various tiny tool mark tics and dents in the foot of the vase that happend while the glass was HOT and being worked EXTRA SWEET example of its kind This will be double boxed for extra-extra protection during shipping
