Description: Excellent True Vintage 1940s Borsalino - Gray Fedora -Size 7-1/8. This is made from Beaver and Hare (English Rabbit, Read below). It’s EXTREMELY Soft! Dad and grandson cleaned and shaped.We filled the picture gallery so you can see every detail! Nothing to hide on this great Vintage Borsalino fedora. The brim can be flipped up or down in the front. Both look great! It all depend on how you’d like it to look on you?Included is the original Borsalino pamphlet that was found in the bottom of the hat box. Also rarely found with the hat. And this is NOT a Satin hat liner! At this time period Borsalino made their hat liner from SILK. Just another feature you don’t find in hats today! A true piece or Hat Art! Borsalino manufactured real hat art! It’s a skill not found in todays hats, a lost art!This was purchased in Italy in the 1940s, you can see the under-tag has the perforated edge and faded and wrinkled a bit the Borsalino name at the very edge. The tag itself is very faded but still there. So rare to find these older True Vintage Borsalino fedoras in such great condition anymore. If you look at the liner you can see that this was sold at one of the Highest End Clothing stores at that time: “Maurice L. Rothschild”, in Chicago Illinois. The leather sweatband is still in great condition! Completely and securely attached and Still very soft and pliable! Dad only cleaned this with a horsehair brush and it’s perfectly clean, no stains! NO MOTH BITES!Thanks to one of our hat collectors for contacting us to help identify the dating on this Borsalino fedora and the material. You can feel the Beaver when shaping the hat and the small tiny Hare fibers, making is hat so easy to work with when steam shaping it and how very soft to the touch it is with the Hare, that is combined with the Beaver. We don’t know why it doesn’t come out consistently in all the pictures? It’s all the same color throughout! Picture of the whole underside is the closest and best reflects the actual color.When we say Hare, that refers to the English Rabbit that Borsalino uses in many of their hats. Borsalino also made many hats years ago made from Beaver. We took out dad’s collection of Borsalino hats. Their Beaver and Hare (English Rabbit) This best matches the Beaver and not Hare (English Rabbit). One of our collectors says this has a bit of Hare mix with the beaver. This is very very soft and thick and so easy to work with. When you work on a hat, any felt hat, it’s is so easy to determine the material at that time. Depending on how it reacts and shapes and feels while working on it you get a very good idea what material you’re working with. This is definitely Beaver! NOTE: dad’s collection for buyer wants to buy the Reddish 1940s hat box. So currently the is NO hat box included. Dad found that second while Borsalino hat box that is still in great condition, with original hat holding insert set. See first picture. If you do want that white Borsalino hat box Dad has agreed to add this for another $74 and that included the extra shipping cost. You must write to us before buying the hat though please. We have stored one of my grandson’s Borsalino’s inside now for over 2 weeks before listing these hat carriers and it is perfectly shaped when removed! Just had to flip the brim down. There is an unreadable size tag. But we actually measure the hat 3 times to determine the size, tagged or not, and it is and measures to a perfect size 7-1/8 at 22-3/8 inches, this agrees with the Tilley Hat Sizing chart.
