Description: Up for sale is my Epiphone ET-290 electric guitar in very nice, original condition. The color is a sunburst red with gold trimmed hardware, pickups and knobs. The serial number gives it a rough production date of 1971-74 since the Japanese manufacturers were not as meticulous with those. It’s recently been gone though and fitted with fresh 10-46 D’addario strings, light cleaning/polishing and tuning. The original tuners were replaced long before I acquired the guitar and the original owner had great taste. They were replaced with a set of Grover’s which work fantastic. There’s no hard spots or binding, just smooth action. The neck is straight with a pretty low action. In spite of this, is plays beautifully with no hum or buzzing at idle The frets have nearly no visible signs of wear and the inlaid mother of pearl is free of cracks. There is a small bit of damage at the neck pocket in the form of some cracks in the lacquer. There’s also a crack along head, just below the tuners. My guess is that it fell and the impact cracked the varnish along the lamination line where they built out the neck. I don’t see any dents so I’m not sure what happened. Either way, it’s completely solid and never once given me an issue. Included is a period correct case (possibly the case purchased when the guitar was bought)
