Description: Vintage CT Altwasser Silesia Plates, Set of 2 These two beautiful plates were produced sometime in the 1930's in Silesia, which lay in pre-war Germany but is now part of Poland. Carl Tielsch founded the Altwasser factory in 1845. It swiftly became second largest porcelain factory in Silesia. After twenty years the factory employeed 1,400 employees. Products of the Tielsch factory quickly became known for its high quality and artistic values. Their quality was compared to porcelain manufactures from Berlin or even Meissen. The larger plate measures 8.5” in diameter, while the smaller measures 7.5”. Both plates have decorative floral edging, gold gilding around the edges, and the Makers Mark on the bottom with other identifying numbers as well, particularly the model number 2181. From an estate donated to MuttLoveRescue.org, the plates are in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or scratches. As the pictures are part of my description, please take advantage of the picture magnifying zoom feature to get a better view of the plates. *** Net proceeds from this sale will go to Mutt Love Rescue (muttloverescue.org), a non-profit, no-kill, volunteer dog rescue organization serving the Washington, DC metro area. ***
