The brass hinges on this folding ruler are very smooth but still stiff for locking open at its maximum 72" length. The wood and paint have just the right amount of wear and tear so that it's still fully functional while representing its years of use! The model number is not fully clear in full on either end; one end the '393' is clear and the other side most of the model is unreadable except the last digit of '8.'
