Description: Vintage Covered Vegetable Soup Handled Dish W/Lid Floral Motif-Made in Japan Circa 1950's. Very hard to find this glass wear with this specific backstamp. Backstamp is a Cherry Blossom with Star; Japanese mark: A cherry blossom with a star in the center. Surrounded by a circle with the words "Made in Japan" written inside. Found on dinnerware produced as European export ware. Japanese ceramic has a long history dating back to the Neolithic period. It is produced differently in each of the 47 prefectures in Japan. Pattern consists of yellow band on white background with multicolored florals, gold trim. In very good condition. Wear to the gold paint on the handles and lid mainly. No chips or cracks. Measures approximately 10.5 inches from handle to handle x 8.5 inches in diameter without handles x 6.5 inches tall including lid.
