This box belonged to my Grandfather, an active and locally known (back in the day) antique trader/collector who most likely bought it somewhere around 1978. It was most likely purchased in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he lived, or Japan, where he frequented. Please see condition description and photos for a good idea of condition. This cinnabar box features a nice patina brought on by age and lovely landscape pattern. This box would be perfect for the serious cinnabar collector, or the perfect accessory for the asian motif domicile. It could also add that little "je ne sais quoi" for staging or props. The dish measures approximately 3 1/2" in diameter and 1 3/4" tall. The base is approximately 2 1/4" in diameter and 1/4" tall (or less). The dish weighs approximately 6.3 oz.
