Description: Condition - unused (but tested) Length - 570 mm Blade Width - 77 mm (curved edge and rounded bottom bevel) Weight -618 g Engraving - 景?虎 頼寿 Steel - Hand forged / laminated with carbon steel sandwiched by ground iron NOTE: there are some tiny chips/ nicks on the both shoulders of the blade. These were made installing the blade to the handle. Please aware of these defects. The edge is already sharp. However, you may want to finish it with a finer stone. I attached a good old Japanes handle to a new hamaguri shape blade. The blade seems to be made in 2010s. TIP: Please check out the video above, this is the fourth time I am using a curved chona, so I am still not very skilled with it. Please take it as a bad example. However, I have noticed that it is not effective to swing it all the way through. Instead, It is better to stop when the blade hits the board. When the blade strikes and bites into the surface of the wood, the curve of wood handle provides a bounce, which helps create a smooth follow in the wood. It is not difficult but I think you need to use this tool a lot and get to used to it.
