Description: I bought this vase from an older lady who had lived in Oklahoma with her family in the 1980’s. Her son had a good friend (in high school)who was from the Choctaw Tribe and one day when they went swimming in the creek he discovered they had the perfect mud / clay for making pottery. He asked this lady (his friends mom) if he could take some clay from her creek and of course she said yes, but first he had to perform a ceremony thanking the creek and Mother Earth for the good mud to make this pottery. She said he told them this was private and only he could be there. After this private ceremony he collected his mud and a couple of weeks later he brought her this vase, which was the first thing he has made from the pottery from her creek as a thank you gift. The vase is fired in an open flame. She doesn’t remember the boys name but his initials are on the bottom of the vase. The lady is now 85 and is downsizing of “things” for what’s to come next.
